A unique way of working and a unique model
Responsible 100 brings individuals and organisations together to collaborate on responsibility and sustainability issues.
In the process, through the use of our tool, we co-create and share valuable resources, namely the stories that participant businesses provide which describe and explain their various responses to the different responsibility issues they face.
Businesses constantly solve problems and overcome challenges. When they do so in respect of the issues we explore, they can inform and inspire others to follow suit by sharing the stories of what they did, how and why.
We are amazed by the creativity and innovation that businesses conjure up, and are excited to have built a tool to share and disseminate this knowledge, knowhow and wisdom.

The use and role of tokens
Given that the more stories submitted and shared, the greater the value to all current and future participants, the submission and sharing of stories is incentivised through the use of tokens and how they are used to determine the fees businesses pay to participate. And also through the identification and celebration of the most prolific participant businesses.
There are 4 different states for all the issues: Unscored > In Progress > Completed > Shared.
Issues can only be in one of these state at any given time. Ideally, businesses will progress each of their 22 issues from Unscored through to Shared as soon as they feasibly can.
The 4 possible states for issues and their token value:
– Unscored – 0 tokens
– In Progress – 5 tokens
– Completed – 10 tokens
– Shared – 20 tokens
When the issue is Unscored and no story has yet been drafted, that issue is worth 0 tokens.
An issue is In Progress when a score has been suggested and an accompanying story is drafted, and then it is worth 5 tokens to the participant business.
When that story is Completed, the issue is then worth 10 tokens to the business.
When it is Shared, the story is worth 20 tokens to the company.
Each issue can only be generating one of these four amounts of tokens at any given time.
Highlighting the most prolific contributors
The maximum number of tokens any company can accumulate while there are 22 issues (more issues will be added later in 2025) is therefore 440 (20 tokens X 22 issues).
See below three examples of league tables for the most prolific companies over time. And below that, details of how the cost of participation effectively decreases the more stories a business submits.
In the first table example, four companies are listed although only two of them have made a start and earned tokens. In the second example, there are 5 companies and in the third example, 11 companies.
Companies are listed in terms of the number of tokens they have accumulated, from highest to lowest. We also express this as a percentage of all the minted tokens combined. The total number of minted tokens across all participants jumps from 70 to 525 and then to 1785 across the three months in the examples below.

What we charge for and how
Participant businesses currently pay a one off £1,000 fee and they contribute their stories.
The fee provides at least 10 hours consultancy support time, and as many as 15 if the participant business submits enough information each month.
Responsible 100 uses this time to get to know your business and to assess the scores and stories you submit. We help you to develop and complete your stories and we validate your scores. We will also suggest ways in which you can improve your performance on all the issues we explore.
As more businesses join and share their stories describing how they have overcome challenges and discovered simple ways to improve, and as our expert partners realise their huge potential to support our businesses through these steps, our Library will become an increasingly valuable source of knowledge, issue by issue.
Businesses are not obliged to share what they submit, but if they are to be valuable to others, the stories must be shared with and seen by other businesses and by partner organisations. As such, this is preferred and incentivised.
Whether a business goes on to publicly share or not, it is still required to guarantee its stories as complete, accurate and verifiable, and that they will be maintained as such at all times.
Every 3 months, completed and shared stories are automatically reopened and returned to the In Progress status. The business may then resubmit it unchanged if it is still a complete, accurate and verifiable story. If not, if its policies and practices have changed, or if exogenous factors (laws, regulations, norms, technology etc) have changed such that the story is no longer complete, accurate or verifiable, it must be updated before resubmission.
We anticipate that most participating organisations will make most of their stories available to one another and, in time, also available for public scrutiny, comment and rating, as and when our digital Library offers this functionality.

No more than 5 bonus hours are available. If a company secures 1 or 2 bonus hours by working at the 50-99 tokens per month rate, then it will only have 4 or 3 available if working at the 100+ rate in any given month.
At the outset, a new joining company is allocated 1 hour consultancy support time per month across its first 10 months. Bonus hours are added into subsequent months, i.e. the 11th, 12th, 13th etc month after joining. If it requires more than 1 consultancy hour per month, then the hours allocated into the farthest out months are brought forward and used.
Example Allocation
Here is an example for fictional company Ironclad used in the examples above. In May 2025 its first month, it earns 60 tokens, in June it earns just 5 more, in July it earns 200 more.

Ironclad’s allocation after its work in May and July 2025
Note that Ironclad submits 200 tokens worth of submissions in July 2025. As such, Ironclad and Responsible 100 may agree to allocate an additional support hour in that month to cope with the amount of work created.
When businesses submit so much information that more than one consultancy support hour is required from Responsible 100 to respond to it, the hour(s) allocated to the farthest off month(s) will be brought forwarded and used in the current month.
Unused hours in current months cannot be rolled forward into subsequent months so participants must be sure to provide Responsible 100 enough work each month by submitting a minimum amount of scores and stories.
For each participating business, we create and maintain the tally of hours initially allocated, bonus hours, used hours, hours remaining, and which future months remaining hours belong to.
Lastly, it should be noted that the hours may be delivered by Responsible 100’s expert partners, and by the trusted third party consultants we work with.
