How It Works
We break ‘responsibility’ into 22 areas, across eight themes: Community, Environment, Ethical Choices, Finance and Governance, Human Rights, Marketplace Ethics, Technology and Workforce.
Step 1: Reviewing the 22 issues
First, let’s meet the issues! We break ‘responsibility’ into 22 issue areas, across eight categories: Community, Environment, Ethical Choices, Finance & Governance, Human Rights, Marketplace Ethics, Technology and Workforce.
The first step — almost a pre-step — is to complete a simple, no obligation Q&A that rapidly explains each issue and gets you started on your journey. This only takes a matter of 5-10 minutes to complete and is entirely free of charge.
We give you (personalised, human-given!) feedback within a few days – focusing on areas to prioritise and potential next steps.
Step 2: An introduction to your Responsibility Indicator dashboard
Next, we’ll create a responsibility Indicator dashboard for you and allow you to experiment with it. You’ll see how quickly it can become a mine of internal data, a map and an index.
We’ll agree 1 or 2 particularly relevant issues to explore in greater depth with you. Our tools are designed to make it easy for you to create written accounts of the positions that you take, the things that you do or choose not to do, and possibly what you intend to do in the future. We have an array of resources to help you make the most of this process without it being dull or onerous.
Crucially, we help you evaluate your current performance using the simplest of performance scales. On all of the issues we explore, we help businesses work out whether they are either currently Poor, Okay, Good or Excellent, and then we explore the implications and make recommendations.
At this point, once we have demonstrated the work we will be doing, and you have a sense of how achievable and relevant this will be, and the various benefits, we’ll usually enter a formal working arrangement and agree costs and time commitments.
Step 3: Achieving your optimal responsibility levels
To realise the full potential of our tools and process, you’ll need to do a little bit of work on all 22 issues, with support from us throughout, thus achieving your first completion of the dashboard.
Thereafter, you’ll have full access to our network of issue experts and the option to begin sharing your live case studies in a safe, supportive environment. You will be part of a vibrant, growing network, and able to learn with – and from – other Responsible 100 businesses and partner organisations.
As will become apparent, your dashboard is invaluable in identifying where best to invest your precious resources to improve, as a repository of the live case studies of the work you’re doing, and as a means for ongoing monitoring and course correction.
We’ll work together on your dashboard pretty much every week. Your priority issues and current performance will change and flux as your policies and practices evolve, new information is gathered, events occur, and other factors are brought to bear.
